Out of Plein Air is a group that is just in its infancy. Right now it consists of Pat Morgan and I, Janet Nelson. We participate in the Pine Shores Art Association plein air group in Manahawkin NJ which was formed in the Spring of 2010 and would meet weekly at various locations to paint.. Our last paint out was last fall -- when the weather became, well, fall-like -- for some. Winter like for most!
So in an attempt to get ready for when the weather warms up again, we have decided to paint at the Pine Shores art club during their Do Your Own Thing Wednesdays. The idea is to complete a painting during that time period --- just like we would when plein air painting.
Pat brought tulips and painted on aqua board -- which she is able to reuse as it has a clay surface.
Here is her arrangement. The tulips were closed like eggs when she brought them and opened this far in the short time we were there.
I chose to paint a jar of peppers. I apologize for the blurry photo.
I actually had started last week, but found that I was rather rusty --- it actually looked alot like the blurry photo above. The one below is my second attempt which I also had started last week, but hadnt gotten very far. I painted on a dark canvas and had not erased the white chalk lines from my sketch at this point.
I am using the guerilla box that I take out for plein air painting. It attaches to a camera tripod.

Rusty or not, these are a welcome sight. Look forward to more as the seasons progress. Good luck to the both of you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan.

ReplyDeleteWorking out of my head in my "studio" is a bit stuffy lately.
Looks like you had fun & I like the subject matter you both chose.
